Marching Band Takes a New Spin
Marching Sequoits take on bigger and better challenges this upcoming year.
New is a word the Marching Sequoits are choosing to embrace this year. The group is becoming more elaborate, bigger and are now competing in a higher division.
This year, the marching band is performing to a score called “Spin.” The music fits with the name of the theme, and the accompanied choreography and drills all spring from it.
“Last year the music was something everyone knew, and this year it’s a new experience for them,” junior Emma Miller said. “The music this year features a lot of the instruments. It’s whimsical and really fun, with a lot of bold moments. The drill movements are very visual and go along with the music well.”
The team is competing with more members this year, which means stronger competition. Miller said she hopes they will be able to play with confidence and take home a few wins. Their next competition is Oct. 24.
