Antioch may be a small town, but one of its best features are the Chain O’ Lakes. During the summer, many people enjoy swimming, tubing, water skiing and many more activities. As the days have gotten colder, boating season comes to end as people have been taking their boats, piers and boat lifts out of the water. Sophomore James Meister lives on Fox Lake which is part of the well-known Chain. Meister loves the lake as it is his favorite place to be.
“It’s like a whole other world,” Meister said. “It’s probably my favorite place to be and I have had a life on the lake my whole life so it is very special to me.”
Meister who loves to be at the lake knows all the ins and outs of water sports; boating, wave running, tubing and wake boarding are some of his favorite hobbies.
“I’ve been riding jet skis and boats since I was a newborn and [being able to drive them] comes naturally to me,” Meister said. “Other things like tubing and wake boarding have always been fun as well.”
Sophomore Haleigh Zenoni lives on Lake Marie. Zenoni spends most of her time on the lake with her family on boats, wave runners and tubing.
“I’m never bored in the summer,” Zenoni said. “There is always something to do on the lake.”
Zenoni and Meister are out on the lake for the majority of their summers and they enjoy spending time with both friends and family. While it is in the hearts of surrounding community members even outside the walls of Antioch, the lake is always a popular location in Antioch to visit.
