Left Brained or Right Brained?
The side of the brain most often in use can influence personality.
The human brain is split down the middle into the right side and the left side. For most people, one of these sides is more dominant in brain function. This can be shown in their actions, hobbies, personality, likes and dislikes. For example, people who are more left-brained would have traits of thinking logically, tend to think with reason, have better self-sufficiency and are better at speech and language. The left side of the brain is mostly used to do more logical and linear tasks such as math or speech.
People who are more right-brained show more traits like being creative, analytical and pay more attention to detail. The right side of the brain is used to understand images, comprehend emotions and control motor skills.
According to the Huffington Post, out of 160,000 Americans, 37 percent were more left brain dominant while only 29 percent were more right brain dominate. The other 34 percent uses an even mixture of both sides of the brain.
If someone is not dominant on either side of the brain and uses both sides equally, then they will have an even mixture of the linear skills the left side of the brain provides as well as the creative skills the right side provides.
“I would like to say that I am more right brain oriented, but when I took a test to determine what side I use more, it told me I was more left brain oriented,” senior Jacob Baker said. “I am kind of an unorganized person, and to me, I’m more creative than analytical, but the test told me otherwise.”
Humans use both sides of the brain, but one side might be slightly more dominant than the other. This slight difference can determine many factors, making someone’s personality and thinking process unique to them. Knowing which side of the brain is someone’s dominant side can help them improve learning, creativity and finding more about who they are.
