In the beginning of January, Antioch Community High School seniors Danny Ressler and Shannon Zogran were accepted into a program known as the Lake County Leadership Program; the goal of the it being to help each student participate in the community. To get into the program is no easy matter. A future participant must submit an essay along with a form that details everything that they are involved with, in addition to a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach or mentor who knows the student well. Due to these criteria the program is hard to be accepted in to and receive high distinction.
For Ressler, getting into the LCLP is a huge accomplishment.
“I put it as part of my applications for scholarships and colleges for academic involvement. So getting into it instead of just being a nominee for it is pretty important,” Ressler said.
Zorgan and Ressler hope that the LCLP will improve the way the community looks on ACHS.
“It could definitely improve the community and get the surrounding people around here in a better mood about the incoming adults that are going to be living here,” Ressler said.
This is a huge accomplishment for these two seniors. Only a maximum of two seniors from every school in the Lake County area are able to be recognized with this achievement each year.
