The Antioch Lacrosse teamed traveled to Jacobs High School to compete in a game that unquestionably changed their whole season. After being delayed for over an hour due to lightning and rain, the team came out with a bang on Monday, April 22.
In the first half, the Sequoits put up eight goals, but Jacobs was right behind them. Antioch answered back with a goal every time Jacobs scored even though the field wasn’t great.
“Playing on the muddy grass was really rough,” sophomore Lucas Bentley said. “People were slipping and sliding everywhere and once we started the second half, it only got muddier.”
Despite the weather conditions, the Sequoits ended up winning 11-10. The goals were scored by sophomores Owen Lane, Evan Day, Caden Jimenez, Noah Welch, and seniors Patrick Beake and William Piper.
“In the game [there] were dropped passes and ground balls,” senior Xavier Sanchez said. “We need to work on all those things in practice.”
The Sequoits are looking to use the momentum from this high scoring victory to win more games as they approach the last month of their season.
“We are hoping that getting the win last night will ignite the fire that our team needs in order to keep winning and getting better,” sophomore Anthony Adams said.
