JV Baseball Profile: Caden Davis
More stories from Daniel Filippone
Caden Davis is a sophomore on the JV boys baseball team at Antioch Community High School and has been a member of the boys baseball program for a year now. Davis started playing baseball when he was 4 years old and has been a multi-sport athlete for most of his life. That was until he found his true calling, the sport where his passion has taken him: baseball. His teammates have always loved playing with Davis because he’s a fun guy to be around and a tremendous baseball player.
Sophomore teammate Andrew DeBoer has been playing baseball at Antioch and travel ball with Davis since they were young.
“We play on Triple Play Crush,” DeBoer said. “It’s really fun to have a cousin on the same team and to experience my first travel team with him. He is very passionate about baseball and he puts in a ton of work to be a better player.”
Throughout Davis’ life, he’s always tried to better his game while being a great teammate in the process. He works to better his strengths and improve his weaknesses. Davis is a great baseball player with a huge heart that puts 110 percent into everything he wishes to accomplish. He works to communicate with his teammates on the field in order to accomplish and succeed while playing.
“I always try to talk, talking is one of the biggest things in baseball,” Davis said. “I try to be someone kids can look up to and set a good example. Talking in baseball is used as a motivational tool. It’s a game where I have fun, I love it, and most of all, it’s an escape from reality, which is the best part.”
Davis has always been team-first ever since he started playing baseball when he was very young. He has installed a motto of never giving up and doing whatever is needed of him when he is on the field. Being a team player means that it is important to establish a fun environment with surrounding teammates.
“Our team goals are to win a lot more and have a winning record,” Davis said. “My personal goals include doing everything I can to contribute every game. We all joke around; I would say we all get along very well, more than half of us are best friends.”
Through all of Davis’ hard work and dedication to the baseball program at Antioch, many can look up to him as a role model, and he is one to follow because of his strong values on and off the field.
