In the last year, emo-rapper Juice WRLD has released several hit albums including “Goodbye & Good Riddance” and “Wrld on Drugs.” Following these successes, the rapper has released a brand new album which explores love, drugs and heartbreak.
On March 8, 2019, Juice WRLD released his Death Race for Love. The album was produced by Grade A and Interscope Records and runs for a total of 72 minutes.
According to a Google poll about the album’s reception, 97 percent of voters liked the album. In the last week, Death Race for Love peaked at number one on the Billboard Top 200. In addition to that, there were 165,000 album sales in the first week. Before reaching this milestone, Juice WRLD had reached number two on the top 200 in his collaborative album with rap star Future, and his debut album Goodbye & Good Riddance reached number eight.
The album has a mixture of beats and the songs vary between upbeat tracks to a songs focusing on heart and soul.
“I don’t think the album is bad,” freshman Ethan Losigner said. “It is just really similar to some of his other music, but he’s a great artist.”
In a poll done on Instagram, 55 percent of people preferred the opening song, “Empty,” to another popular song on the album, “Maze.”
“I really like the beat of Empty it gets me pumped up,” junior Jamie Nottingham said. “The album has good songs to listen to when you’re driving alone at night.”
The album is likely to have more growth as well which might mean more time in the number one spot and more sales, which has the potential to make this album Juice WRLD’s greatest accomplishment thus far.
