Is Trump The Future of The Republican Party?

While Trump and Clinton continue to divide on many issues, the outcome of the upcoming election deems much of America’s future.

The rallies of Presidential Republican Nominee, Donald Trump,  gather insane amounts of support. Over thirteen thousand tickets were sold to Trump’s most recent rally in Everett, Washington, according to Regated.com. People are coming out in large numbers to show their support for the man who believes he can bring real change to our country. Trump believes that his ideas and policies are what people not only want but what our country needs. However, the question is, how many people have really bought into the self proclaimed future of politics in our country?

Republicans come to an issue with Trump when it comes to core Republican values, as he has supported Planned Parenthood and communicated his acceptance of more Socialist programs like Obamacare in the past. With a differing stance, the modern Republican platform believes government should play as small of a role as possible in the lives of everyday Americans.

“I feel Trump has caused a major divide not only among the Republican Party, but the Democratic Party as well because he is more moderate, which angers the Conservative Establishment,” Senior Justin Prinn said. “…I feel like he could get a lot of votes from Democrats because Hillary Clinton is not fit for the Presidency.”

Trump highlights the possibility that the current two party system we have is broken. Following the countless email leaks from the Democratic Party and past issues concerning the Benghazi affair, the ordinary American’s trust in the current system continues to weaken.

As there are many first time voters within the ACHS student body, the abnormal election that has ensued is all the more confusing for these young voters, leading to their difficulty in choosing a candidate to support.

“I don’t think there’s a real candidate to vote for in this election…[ I believe] we are going to be slighted either way,” Senior Conner Kaiser said.

Although there is much debate over the two nominees for the 2016 Presidential Election, the outcome plays a large role in determining the future direction our country will take within the future decades, making it one of the most monumental choices this generation will ever make.
