Illuminati: people claiming to possess special enlightenment or knowledge of something. The truth is the title Illuminati is given to both real and fictitious groups. Illuminati was a secret group that originated in Bavaria that existed for around nine years. After orders from the Roman Catholic Church they were told to disband.

The Illuminati seems to have a renewed interest among the most recent generation, the Millennials. The Illuminati is most often linked to the music industry’s most iconic figures, such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem and several more.

Despite the fame and rumor, is the Illuminati real?

The talk of Illuminati has spread like a virus over the past few years.

“My dad told me about Illuminati a few years ago,” said junior Adam Navarro. “I’ve heard several different things that Illuminati have been accused of. I’ve heard that they took part in the 9/11 accusations.”

Antioch Community High School students may be able to speculate about what truthfully is the Illuminati and if the organization still exists. But, the truth is, the answer to this question cannot simply be answered by students. Instead, it inspires another question, “why does this matter to students?”
