Injuries Lead to Early Season Ending
Football ends 2015 season with motivation for playoffs next year.
As the fall season is coming to a close, another season of football ends for the Sequoits. With a final record of 5-4 and a denied chance at the playoffs, the team wishes it ended differently, yet are still proud of their accomplishments overall.
“I felt that as a team we ended the season together as a family,” said senior Ian Flately. “The ending game will always be a memory for me because it was just like a movie. The whole team was the only ones on the field and it was raining and the song “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” came on; we were all singing. Life just felt complete and calm, and that was probably the best way to end as a team.”
The main focus for the team this year was to leave everything you have out on the field. With tough losses against Vernon Hills, Wauconda and Zion-Benton, it was important that the hardest work was put in to finish off the season strong.
“I personally feel that we could’ve definitely done more,” senior Jared Bolton said. “We didn’t play to the best of our abilities against some of the teams that we should’ve definitely beat, but we did play our hardest against Lakes. I am very proud of everyone for giving it their best effort and playing their hardest. We played with a lot of heart.”
With a season full of injuries, the team felt they played the best they possibly could this season. For the returning players, they have high hopes for next year and are ready to fight for their chance to get into the playoffs.
