How To Dress To The Dress Code
Many schools have recently enforced their dress code rules. Even though there is a strict dress code, it is very easy to look fashionable and still follow the rules. Especially for girls, it can be a bit challenging to dress appropriate because of the type of clothing that is considered “fashionable” in today’s society.
“The rules are simple. It isn’t hard to just cover up. Plus, it’s winter and students should be covered up anyway,” said senior Abigail Pierce.
Here are five ways to avoid breaking the rules:
1.) Layer Up: One way to avoid getting in trouble is wearing many articles of clothing such as sweaters, cardigans, and jackets. During this time of year, the weather is unpredictable. The temperatures in the school are usually hot, but outside it can be below zero or even snowing. An example of layered clothing is wearing a flannel and a shirt underneath.
2.) Cardigans: Covering up a sheer shirt with a cardigan makes the outfit more appropriate for school.
3.) Wear Tank Tops Underneath: Many shirts are now sheer and the undergarments are visible. Simply wearing a tank top underneath can keep you out of trouble.
4.) Fingertip Length: Jeans with holes in them have become very common. It is easy to measure if it is appropriate to wear to school by simply putting your hands on your sides. If the slits are higher than your fingertips, than it is not appropriate.
5.) Don’t Show Undergarments: Following the no sagging rule is quite simple. Wear a belt. As for the upper undergarments, do a quick self evaluation before leaving the house. Check and make sure you can not see through a thin top and cover up straps.
