These balls are made with white chocolate and topped with sprinkles to improve the presentation of the product.
From weddings to birthday parties a classic cake is one of the most favored desserts. It can be used to celebrate or just enjoy. For some, a slice of cake may be too filling. As another way to enjoy cake is by forming it into cake balls. Cake balls use the same recipe as making a cake with a few altered and additional steps.
Ingredients:
One box of cake
Three eggs
Half a cup of water
Half a cup of oil
One cup of frosting
One pound of white chocolate or milk chocolate candy melts
Half a cup of sprinkles
Instructions:
Prepare cake mix with the amount of oil, water and eggs directed on the box. Bake in a pan according to package directions.
Let the cake cool completely, then break apart and crumble until fine crumbs form.
Stir in the frosting until a dough forms. If the dough seems dry, you can add additional frosting, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Roll the cake mixture into tablespoon sized balls. Place the balls on a parchment lined baking sheet and chill for at least one hour.
Melt the white chocolate in a bowl in the microwave, heating in 30 second increments, and stir until completely smooth.
Place each cake ball on a fork and use a spoon to pour the candy melts over the cake ball. Tap against the side of the bowl to remove excess melted chocolate.
Place each ball on a parchment lined sheet pan. Top with sprinkles.
Repeat with remaining cake balls and melted chocolate.
This dessert is great for focusing on portion amounts and still being able to consume a dessert. These balls can be made up to three days in advance and can be stored in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
