How to Bowl a Strike
Helpful tips on how to bowl a perfect strike nearly everytime.
The phrase “practice makes perfect” could not be more true when trying to bowl a perfect game, or just a strike in general. Freshman Hailey Rivera knows just how tedious trying to get a strike can be.
“It is definitely something that takes a lot of practice,” Rivera said. “When trying to bowl a strike, release the ball like you’re shaking hands.”
Another thing that bowlers like freshman Maya Schon look for is the pocket.
“The pocket is the sweet spot that if you hit it, it’s a strike without fail,” Schon said. “But, you have to hit the perfect spot.”
The perfect spot is hitting the right side of the front pin. That way, the front pin will hit pins two, four and seven. The ball then hits pin three, which will then hit the rest of the pins if thrown accurately.
Rivera and Schon focus on the mental aspect more, while freshman Lynn Michalec focuses on the mental aspect along with how to handle the ball.
“First of all, you have to understand your ball,” Michalec said. “Have balance, consistency and focus on confidence. It also helps to get aggressive with the ball.”
In order to bowl a strike, one needs confidence and lots of practice; just like anything else in life.
