The Antioch Community High School boys track season has just begun with their first indoor meet on March 1 at UW-Parkside. The captains are Seniors Tyler Thorn, Cameron Ayers, Mike Dorosan, and Daniel Lonski. At the meet, the team placed 10th out of 14 different schools that participated in the meet.

Athletes that placed within the top 10 for their events are: Cameron Ayers, senior, took home two top ten finishes in the 55 meter hurdles and high jump; Senior Daniel Lonski placed 6th in the 55 meter dash; Junior Gabe Lopes placed 9th for 55 meter hurdles; the 4×200 meter relay, Antioch ‘A’ placed 8th; Junior Bogdan Anghel placed 5th for the 400 meter dash; 4×400 meter relay placed 3rd for Antioch ‘A’; and the 4×800 meter relay, Antioch ‘A’ placed 8th

Junior Ray Luc placed 7th for pole vault; Sophomore Matt Adams placed 8th for long jump; and Senior Mike Dorosan placed 7th and Senior Tim Christian placed 9th for shot put.

Team captain Tyler Thorn, who has been on varsity track all four years of high school plus having additional track experience from middle school, believes that this track season will offer great experiences for the team since they have grown a substantial amount compared to previous seasons. “My hopes for the team this season is just for everyone to realize their potential and always do their best–whether at meets or just at practice. I want other schools to understand that we are a strong contender and should be ‘watched out’ for,” said Thorn.

The boys are already looking ahead to the State championship in May. “We have that goal of making it to state already set for this season. Fingers crossed,” said Thorn. Although the season has just begun, the spirit in this team is undeniably one of a kind, which will ensure that no matter how the season ends, it will be a season no one will forget.
