On January 31 the musical “Grease” will appear live on Fox. But this version will have more of a modern day twist.

“I am very excited to watch this because I loved the original version so much, so I’m excited to see what the newest version has in store,” freshman Grace Weber said, “Also I think both actresses Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens are talented and they would both fit their character’s roles very well. ”

Along with all of the new actors and actresses, there will be a new playlist as well. But, this play list will be more up to date and filled with popular songs. David Guetta and Nicki Minaj’s hit “Hey Mama” song will be included. While a little throw back song from Michael Jackson called “Will You Be There” will be on the playlist too. The final song that will be played is a new version of “Grease Is the Word,” sang by Jessie J, and as it played everyone screamed along to the lyrics and waved their towel.

“I think it’s cool how the newer version of ‘Grease’ is using more popular and well known songs,” junior Carlie Gaylord said. “I feel like it will really tie in the whole modern day twist they are trying to give it.”

Vanessa Hudgens will be playing Rizzo, Julianne Hough will be playing Sandy, Carlos PenaVega will be playing Kenickie, Ana Gasteyer will be playing Principal McGee, Andrew Call will be playing Sonny, Elle McLemore will be playing Patty, and Sam Clark will be playing Leo.

With the original version of “Grease” being such a huge success there’s no doubt that the newest version won’t be a huge hit too. All of the actors and actresses are so talented I can’t wait to see how they do. So don’t forget to tune into Fox this Sunday at 7 p.m.
