Good Taste on your Plate
The top five foods to get back to loving your body post Valentine’s Day
With everyone recovering from the typical Valentine’s Day “sweet coma,” it’s time to get back in shape. Whether it be a pre-workout snack, a quick breakfast on-the-go or a snack to satisfy your hunger, these common five foods will get you and your body back in shape, filling that cavity from your regular sweet tooth.
- Grapefruit
Grapefruit is naturally packed with water and fiber, making its citrus reputation delicious. It naturally will keep you feeling full and satisfied. For those trying to lose weight, it is a natural fat burner, whether it be before a workout, or half of a grapefruit for breakfast early before starting your day. It’s juicy, tart and delicious.
- Pineapple
Pineapple is my personal favorite; it’s sweet and its juice has the right amount of tang in its acidic explosion. According to Healthline.com, it is rich in vitamin C, and has been shown to prevent heart disease. It’s rich in flavor, and it reminds me of the tropics. Prior to a workout, I’m always left feeling energized.
- Grapes
Grapes are easy, and I love simplicity. They’re cheap, and you can just pop them into your mouth. They’re little balls of energy, and they’re satisfying everywhere at any time. According to Medical News Today, they’re rich in antioxidants that prevent diabetes.
- Hardboiled Eggs
I love hardboiled eggs… a lot. It’s odd, because I’m really picky with eggs, and I only eat them two ways: over-medium and hard boiled. You can eat these anytime of the day. They are packed with lean fats, and high in protein, aka the perfect combo. I religiously eat these prior to a workout. They’re light, yet loaded with energy.
- Bananas
Let me state the obvious, bananas are yellow and that’s a happy and appealing physical feature. These have been a personal favorite of mine since I was young; I’ve always loved bananas and banana flavored things: bread, muffins, Laffy Taffy, popsicles, covered in chocolate, peanut butter and the list goes on. They’re great post-workout snacks, mainly because they help with cramps and soreness, and they’re just generally refreshing.
