Girls Varsity Golf Defeats Lakes
The Sequoits fought hard in a close match against Lakes Community High School.
On Wednesday September 4th, the girls varsity golf team played one of their best matches this season at Spring Valley Golf Course. The Sequoits won against rival, Lakes Eagles, with a score of 194-200.
The team was led by junior Madison Maish and sophomore Emily Roberts, who managed to shoot the lowest scores on the team along with other outstanding performances during the match.
“The very first hole I played was a par five and I bogeyed,” senior Emily Pedersen said. “I played pretty consistent the whole day.”
The team has been seeing major improvements early in the season. Maish has been making personal improvements, she has been trying to take advantage of the competition to try and beat her best score.
“My chipping has improved recently and most shots have usually been within 10 feet from the hole,” Maish said. “My personal goal is to continue shooting in the mid 90’s or high 80s by the end of this season.”
For their next match, the girls varsity golf team takes on Wauconda, September 11 at 4 pm at Prairie Isle Golf Course.
