Girls Track Takes on Home Invite
The varsity girls track team finishes fourth out of 12 in the D117 invite.
On Friday, April 20, the girls varsity track and field team competed in the District 117 invitational at home. The girls ended the meet with a fourth place finish out of 12; only missing a third place finish by two points.
There was a lot of individual as well as team performances that greatly helped Antioch’s high place finish in the invitational. Junior Noor Abdellatif placed second in pole vault and the 300 meter hurdles. Senior Jillian Everett placed third in shot put and discuss. The 4×100 meter relay team placed fourth in the meet with members including Abdellatif, freshman Gloria Lobodinski, freshman Maddy Londono and sophomore Tiana Fox.
“We scored well in many of our events and almost had all scoring athletes, which was great,” Abdellatif said. “We had to adjust a few things within minutes of a couple events we were competing in due to injuries or absent athletes, but I believe that we performed better than expected, given the situation.”
The Antioch girls track and field team will be competing at another invitational at Woodstock on April 27, and take on the rest of the NLCC in their conference meet on Thursday, May 3 at Grayslake Central.
