The Antioch Community High School Girls Tennis team received another victory on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Coming straight off of a tournament win, the Sequoits are looking as strong as ever. The Sequoits almost swept Zion-Benton, losing only one match to the ZeeBee’s. Having multiple new varsity athletes, the Sequoits were able to give up only three games in the six matches that they won.

The Sequoits #1 singles player, freshman Kelsey Neville, continued to look strong, beating her opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. #2 singles player senior Maddie Brost and #3 singles player sophomore Sjana Henderson were also able to pull out wins.

However, the Sequoits fell short of perfection. #1 doubles team juniors Annie Horner and Anna Arden were unable to beat the ZeeBee’s in a valiant effort, with scores of 6-7  1-7  6-7  7-9.

Winning overall six matches to one, the Sequoits look strong as they head into their next competition on Sept. 5, at home against Waukegan.
