The Antioch Community High School girls soccer team, for the second year, will play in an indoor soccer league this December. The indoor team will play at the Libertyville Sports Complex on Sunday and Monday nights. The team sees this as a great opportunity for players to stay in shape and prepare for the upcoming spring season.
Junior Domanique Nelson is in charge of the team. Last year, varsity and junior varsity players and even some girls who have never played before were on the team together.
“This pre-season opportunity is great for us girls to get better together, stay in shape and have an upper hand during our spring season because we have very high expectations for this coming season,” said Nelson.
Nelson and varsity soccer coach Marni Polakow are trying to set up practices for the indoor team, but for now they will be practicing at open gyms like they did last year. Open gym will begin in December, the times and dates, however, are undetermined. All boys and girls are welcome to join.
Before the indoor season, there will be workouts on Wednesdays starting at 3:10 p.m. in the fitness center. If you are interested in joining the indoor team, contact Nelson, Maria Pena or Coach Polakow.
