Girls Golf Comes Up Short
The girls golf team loses a close match to Lakes on Monday in the District 117 Challenge.
The Antioch girls golf team faced Lakes Community High School on Monday September 12. The Sequoits came close to defeating their rival Lakes, but fell short losing this match 202-201.
Hannah Cook, Senior, is a member of the girls varsity golf team.
“As a whole, there were highs and lows.” Cook said “Some girls were extremely disappointed in their scores, while some others were thrilled with them.”
Even coming out of a loss there were still aspects of the match that were positive. Sophomore Samantha Brown shot a 40 at this match and won the District 117 Challenge.
With a match that ended so close, there were things that the team did well, but there are still things Cook says they will improve on.
“Our teams greatest strength is definitely our perseverance. No matter how poorly we might be playing, each and every player is able to shake it off to finish the round.” Cook said. “One of our weaknesses is just being able to put together every aspect of our game. Some days, we are able to putt really well, and others our chip shots are spot on. Once we can put it all together, we’ll be a team to watch.”
Cook continues to have a very positive outlook on the season, and believes her teammates will continue to improve.
“I believe that all of the girls on the team have the ability to continue on into post season,” Cook said “I think that the end of the season will be really exciting for the team. Even if things don’t turn out how we would like, I know that the girls will continue to improve and will be even better prepared for next year.”
