Even though the Sequoit girls cross country team did not finish the way that they wanted to. The girls came in at fifth out of five in their first meet at their home course. The girls are hopeful because the season is still young and there is room for improvement.

“Today was a good start for our team,” senior captain Allison Smith said. “We still have a lot of work to do to be where we want to be, but we have been putting in the time and effort at practice and it will pay off. We have a lot of young talent on our team (and) I’m excited to see where this season takes them.”

Some people feel that they could have done a lot better.

“Personally, I did a little worse than I was hoping,”  sophomore Natalie Hill said. “The first meet is always rough.”

The team is off to a shaky start but they are hopeful for the rest of the season.

“As a whole, I know the team was a bit disappointed,” Hill said. “Neither team did as well as we wanted, but everyone’s working hard to get better all the time.”
