Girls Cross Country Run All Over Charger Invite

The girls team continues to improve after placing second at this past weekends invite.

The Antioch girls cross country team went to Aurora last Saturday, September 24 and placed second at the ACC Charger Invite in the blue division. The Sequoits continue to place on top with sophomore Natalie Hill placing second, freshman Natalie Svarc placing 11th, and senior Rylie Mercer placing 20th.

Gracie Mateja is a junior and runner on the girls cross country team. The team believed they would do well going into their invite.
“The team did around what we were expecting,” Mateja said. “Everyone who ran today in the meet was extra supportive of each other, and was even helping people on the other teams. I think that helped motivate us.”

Mateja believes that everyone is going to be very impressed by the speed of the younger members of the team.

“As a team I think the freshman and sophomore girls are really going to impress everyone,” Mateja said. “The younger kids on the team are really fast this year.”

Mateja believes that the team will continue to improve this season, and do very well.

“Varsity will keep up with what they are doing, (and) we will only move up from here,” Mateja said.
