Girls Basketball Tryouts
The varsity basketball team began their season with tryouts starting.
With a very successful end to the previous season making an appearance in the super sectionals game with a 55-48 loss to Chicago Marshall, the lady Sequoits look to improve this season to make another run for a state title.
“We got a new slogan this year, ‘Battle and Believe,” junior Kaitlynn Stay said. “We are implementing this to help remind us to always battle to and believe that we can improve from last year.”
With the first day of basketball underway for the lady Sequoits, head varsity basketball coach Tim Borries made sure that all of his girls were in adequate shape.
“We did the dirty dozen,” Stay said. “It is probably one of our tougher drills. But we know that we need to be able to run the floor this season.”
The girls first day of tryouts also consisted of them learning a new offensive set for the season. After laying down the foundation of the new offense, the girls continued to build on the new offense in the days to follow.
“Our offense this year should work out very well this year because we are a very high energy team,” Stay said.
The Sequoits will get word of this year’s varsity girls basketball team Wednesday, November 8.
