Girls Basketball Shoots Their Way To Sectionals
The Lady Sequoits will take on Regina High School in the sectional semi-finals tonight at 6 p.m.
The ACHS Girls basketball program has been dominant and thrilling to watch all season. They dominated their conference with a record of 11-1. The team had multiple players rose to the occasion throughout the season, from sophomores Ashley and Amy Reiser, to seniors Shannon Zogran and Carly McCameron. Not only did they dominate this season, they made history by beating the Stevenson Patriots for the North Suburban Conference Championship, the first Prairie Division team to beat a Lake Division team in the championship.
On Feb. 20, The Sequoits took on St. Viator for the Regional Championship at Wauconda High School. The girls started the first quarter off strong with some key offensive plays. At the end of the first quarter, the Sequoits were up 25 to 15. As they started the second quarter the girls really locked down on defense to allow St. Viator to only score three points. At the end of the second quarter the score was 39 to 17. At the beginning of the third quarter the girls continued to rack up the points. During the fourth quarter the girls finished off strong, with a score of 59 to 39. With this big win the girls earned a spot in the sectional tournament starting this Tuesday, Feb. 24.
The Lady Sequoits will play at 6 p.m. at home. The Cardinal Crazies announced the theme will be America.
