Girls Basketball Rolls Over Lakes
Recent victory against sister-school Lakes drives the Lady Sequoits into hopeful NSC Championship victory.
The varsity girls basketball team traveled to Lakes Community High School to try and bounce back from their tough loss against Vernon Hills. The game started off slow and remained that way for the first quarter. The first basket was not made until three minutes in, but after the first quarter the Sequoits really took off toward victory.
Senior Shannon Zogran and sophomore Ashley Reiser hit some key three pointers during the second quarter to put the Sequoits in the lead. After halftime the girls marched back onto the court where they only increased their lead. The team racked up points in the third quarter and continued their assault on the Eagles in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Amy Reiser made her mark in the fourth quarter by coming up with multiple steals. At the end of the game the score was 57-31.
This win put the girls 3-0 against Lakes and is a big confidence booster going into one of the biggest games of the season on Wednesday.
