Girls Basketball Beats the Rockets
The girls basketball team beats Richmond-Burton in their second home game of the season.
On Wednesday, December 4th, the girls basketball team beat the Richmond Burton 54-36. With a 4-3 record so far this season and going 2-0 in conference, the Sequoits are looking successful and are ready to excel this season.
“I think the team played really well,” junior Gianna Riforgiato said. “We worked the ball around very smoothly and it wasn’t a one player game. The whole team contributed and we are all super proud of how we played.”
Riforgiato is a three year varsity player and believes they will have a great season. She thinks that this year the Sequoits will have a breakout year if they keep playing like how they are playing.
“So far, the season has been looking up for us,” Riforgiato said. “We have high hopes for this season. Coming from several seasons of struggling, we are looking too really push ourselves and I think we will be very successful this year if we keep playing how we are.”
In order to reach their goals the Sequoits are planning on pushing themselves on the court during practice. Their main goal is to improve and succeed. Senior Miranda Chamberlin talks about what she thinks will be the best game plan.
“We need to improve on staying moving the entire time and keeping our calm throughout the whole game even when the intensity picks up,” Chamberlin said.
Not only is the team planning on having a big year, so is Sophomore Avery Larson. With major improvements she feels confident in not only herself but also her teammates.
“This year will be a year to remember for sure,” Larson said. “This season will be a historic season for girls basketball.”
Not only are the Sequoits off to a great start but they are hungry for me. They have the goal to win conference and to improve their record from last year. Their next game will be Friday, December 13.
