Footloose Review
Revamped 1984 musical scores big amongst student, community.
I don’t know what was more exciting: watching junior Paige Hope get down and do the worm or listening to senior Weston Fox‘s hilarious spiels and watching his funky dance moves. Maybe it was even the balloons at the end with the final cast call. But April 21 to the 24, students at Antioch preformed in front of large audiences and put on an amazing show. This year’s Spring production of Footloose was an absolute hit. The cast has absolutely outdone themselves with this one.
Hope, who played the priest’s wife, had her first big singing role. She’s been in other plays, notably playing Alice in the fall play “Alice in Wonderland”. Alongside her cast member sophomore RJ Vazquez, who made his stage debut. Being only a sophomore, it’s very impressive to land the lead role like Vazquez did. The whole cast worked really hard and sold out the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shows.
Leads senior Brianna Chastain who played Ariel, and Vazquez, who played Ren, made quite a compatible pair up on stage. When sitting down and watching Footloose, at some moments I actually felt like I was at a professional play — it was mesmerizing. I forgot that those were my classmates up there. Overall they did an amazing job and should be so proud of what they accomplished over the last couple of months.
