Five Healthy Snacks
These five snacks are sure to satisfy cravings and provide energy throughout the day.
Even though many think of going to get a snack means going and eating cookies or some sort of junk food, snacks can actually be an important part of a diet. They provide energy throughout the day and keep overeating during meals to a minimum.
- Hardboiled eggs
- These are a good snack for any time of day and are very easy to eat. They provide 78 calories and six grams of protein per egg, so they can be a great snack or even part of a meal.
- Greek yogurt
- Plain, non-fat greek yogurt not only provides 17 grams of protein per 100 calories, but also is a great source of zinc, potassium and vitamins B6 and B12.
- Almonds
- Plain almonds are simple, small and tasty. These snacks provide 169 calories, which is six grams of protein per one ounce. Along with providing those two things, almonds are packed with healthy fats and fibers.
- Edamame
- This is a vegan snack that per one cup provides 189 calories and 17 grams of protein. Edamame is really just a fancy name for boiled soy beans. Cover these small pods in a little bit of sea salt or enjoy it by itself for a tasty treat.
- Fruit
- Fruits make a quick snack that can be taken almost anywhere. They help to provide a good source of vitamins, natural sugars and are low in calories. Along with providing all of these healthy benefits, some fruits are shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and even help prevent high blood pressure.
