Fifth Annual Warrior Run at AUGS
Middle school encourages fitness, healthy habits through mile-long race.
With all the nice weather recently, the gym teachers have been taking advantage of the outdoors. Antioch Upper Grade School (AUGS) held their fifth annual Warrior Run on May 6. This is a timed mile run around the neighborhood of Tiffany Farms during the student’s gym class.
The students seemed very eager to run the race and had been preparing for it in gym class. Some students finished in under six minutes and still had energy to spare after.
“I actually liked it, it was really fun,” eighth grader Diego McKenzie said. “It was kind of tiring, but overall I had a good time. After we finished, they gave us water bottles and bananas.”
AUGS staff and faculty used cones to map out the course, and staff members were scattered all along the race course to ensure the safety of students.
