Field Hockey Season Comes to a Close
A loss at Glenbard West in the playoffs capped off a losing season.
The lady Sequoits may not have had the season they had hoped for in the beginning of the year, finishing the regular season with just four wins and 20 losses, but come playoff time, it was a whole new season.
On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the lady Sequoits defeated Lakes Community High School to move on in the playoffs. This gave the ladies new hope for the post season. Playing Glenbard West in the second round did not end well. The ladies started out a little slow, being down 2-0 at halftime. In the end, they just ran out of energy losing 5-0.
“I think the win over Lakes gave us confidence going into today’s game,” senior captain Alexis Duehr said. “It didn’t feel like my last field hockey game but, thinking about it now I am glad I went out for it my freshman year.”
“Being a freshman on varsity has been quite a challenge,” freshman Carrie Miller said, “Winning a playoff game means a lot and we can use it to our advantage next year.”
Miller plans to join other field hockey teams and participate in camps and clinics to improve her game for next year.
