Fenty Beauty: Buy or Bust?
Rihanna launched her new makeup line, is it too good to be true?
On September 8, “Work” singer Rihanna debuted her new makeup line dubbed “Fenty Beauty”. New Products hit the shelves and were available online as well; a big step for a new brand. Rihanna’s collection is unique in shape, shade range and a new shaped makeup sponge for easy application.
‘Match Stix’ are a unique concealer in a hexagonal prism shape, these sticks magnetize together for easy storage and form a honeycomb shape when many are added together. Rihanna’s new line is going viral due to her popularity, as well as her ‘Pro Filt’r’ foundation having 40 shades. People of all skin tones can get a semi-matte foundation and not worry about a color not being dark or light enough, and even more shades are in the process. Sophomore Marissa Modica shares her opinion on the foundation shade range.
“Well I think that her and her team did a really great job for their first launch,” Modica said. “The shade range is really great compared to other foundation shade ranges like the Marc Jacobs foundation shades.”
Fenty Beauty also has an arrange of highlighters, blushes, brushes and a primer that hit the store. They have received mainly positive feedback. Highlighting is a recently new way to bring out cheekbones and other assets of the face and for Rihanna’s first launch, there doesn’t seem to be any flaws.
“I actually purchased the shade ‘Trophy Wife’ and the pigmentation is un-real and very versatile,” Modica said. “You can use them as eyeshadows as well and I’m really happy with the more basic highlight colors mixed with more bold and colorful shades.”
Companies like Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Beauty definitely have some competition, because it seems that Fenty Beauty is going nowhere but up in the beauty industry.
