With the change of the seasons comes changes in people’s favorite foods. The fall food trends entering the spotlight include many annual favorites including pumpkin spice and apple. But this year a few new recipes are stealing the show.
“I enjoy fall foods in the morning. I feel like it just wakes me up and gives my day a jump start, it always makes it better,” sophomore Teryn Jones said. “My favorite fall food is apple cider donuts. The best ones are from Richardson’s or Stade’s.”
This fall the top breakfast favorite foods include pumpkin spice waffles, mini pumpkin donuts and cinnamon peach crumble. Most fall breakfasts revolve around the idea of fresh fruit and spices.
For lunch this fall, many people are opting for comfort foods while adding their own fall twist. Some lunch favorites are roasted pork with apple-walnut salsa, salmon with apple cider and herbs and streusel apple bread. Similar to lunch trends, many people are opting for homestyle dinners.
Fall desserts are what most people look forward to during this season. Many traditional favorites include apple crumble, caramel apples and pumpkin pie. This year some new recipes are in high demand. Caramel apple cheesecake bars are one of this year’s hottest fall desserts; it is not only tasty but also very simple and quick to make. Another new favorite is pumpkin pie cupcakes, this twist on a classic fall dessert is very simple and eliminates the mess of a whole pie.
The changing seasons encourage the creation of new, fun foods with seasonal twists.
