Fashionably Frigid

Winter sports participants dress for success as the frigid temperatures overcome the Midwest.

When the temperature starts to dwindle and the snow begins to fall, winter sports activists head for the slopes. First, they must ensure that they have the proper clothing and sportswear for their intended activity. Whether it is downhill skiing, snowboarding, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing or cross country skiing, style trumps comfort and warmth for many winter sports participants.

Some of the top brands consist of: Burton, Ride, Forum and Lib Tech. All top brands are different in ranking depending on each winter sport product. Many of the top brands provide comfort, style and warmth for winter aficionados.

There are many stores where this winter gear is available within the town of Antioch. Dick’s Sporting Goods in McHenry carries a large stock of winter sports gear for the cold season. For Northern Illinois residents, winter sports play an immense role in “surviving” the cold, winter season. Shoppers will find anything from Burton snowboards to GoPro action cameras with a huge range of products from this nearby shop.

For senior Kyle Berry, cold weather sports play a huge role in his winter. He began park skiing at a young age and looks forward to the snow fall each year. Berry snow skis in his backyard when there is snow on the ground, and goes to Wilmot Mountain as soon as it opens for the winter season.

“I can’t wait for snow to fall. When it’s warm, snow is all I think about. My go to snow gear brands are Armada and Oakley. Those are definitely the best brands, in my opinion,” Berry said. He wears these brands and stays warm throughout the ski season. These brands and many others of winter clothing keep Berry and other winter sports enthusiasts warm and stylish in the icy cold season.
