Out with the old, and in with the new. Uggs are saying goodbye, while the new trend, booties, are saying hello.

Boots come in all different shapes, colors, and styles, making outfit options endless. A new trend this year is booties. Booties are a short boot, normally cut off at the ankle. There are two main styles of booties: heeled and flat.

Heeled booties are a great way to dress up an outfit and add the perfect touch. They normally come in leather or suede material, which holds up well with the right brand. Franco Sarto, Steve Madden, and Lucky are some brands worth the spending the money for. According to DSW, their boots run from $40-$80. Heeled booties can either be dressed up or dressed down. To dress them up, layer them with tights, a t-shirt dress, and a chunky scarf for the perfect fall outfit. To dress them down, heeled booties can be worn with jeans, cuffed right at the boot, worn with a nicer shirt.

Flat booties, on the other hand, are perfect for casual outfits. Senior Alexa Jimenez wears her short, brown booties with just about anything.

“I like them because they are trending right now,” Jimenez said. “I wear them with skirts, dresses, jeans, or leggings; basically anything.”

On the other hand, senior Madison Oakes, does not have a pair of booties. Instead, she rocks the tall boot trend.

“I like tall boots, like my hunter boots, because they match all of my outfits,” Oakes said.

There is one thing that is for sure: boots are not going out of style anytime soon.
