Fall Play: Who Will Carry the Word?
ACHS’ fall play strives to leave a lasting impression on their upcoming audiences.
Antioch Community High School’s theater program is proud to present the 2014 fall play, “Who Will Carry the Word?”
“The play is set in a Nazi death camp and follows the stories of 23 French women during the Holocaust,” said ACHS senior and Student Director of the play, Riley Beckett.
The play will run from Thurs. Nov. 13 to Sun. Nov. 16. Show times are seven p.m., Thursday through Friday and two p.m. on Sunday.
“I’m most looking forward to seeing how the girls portray the story and I’m also looking forward to the audience’s reactions,” said Beckett. “I really want the audience to think about it afterwards, because it is real and it did happen and it’s important that people know what happened 80 years ago and why it still matters.”
The cast consists of mostly all females, with only three males, two as Nazi officers and one who was a prisoner, but was promoted to a guard.
In preparation for the play, the cast went on a field trip to the Skokie Holocaust Museum, along with other various activities. Throughout rehearsals, the cast learned not only about the Holocaust, but about each other and themselves. Each cast member has put in a tremendous amount of work and hopes to leave a lasting impression on their audiences.
“I’m really proud of the girls and how far they’ve pushed themselves during the process,” said Beckett.
Tickets are five dollars for students and senior citizens and seven dollars for adults.
This play is recommended for mature audiences.
