Every fall the Fine Arts department puts on a different play to display the talents of the student actors. This fall, the production is a courtroom drama with a twist. “The Night of January 16th” has several unique elements that are firsts for Antioch Community High School.

As this is a courtroom drama, there are twelve jury members in the play. Instead of casting actors to portray these characters, the jury consists of the show’s audience. Wanda Teddy, head of the Fine Arts department and director of the play, said, “I am excited to see how the audience handles [this]. This is a first.”

Also, the actors in the play will be mixed in with the audience. Normally, the actors would wait backstage for their cues. When a witness is called in the play, the actor will get up from the audience just as if they were actually being called to a witness stand.

The lead attorneys are played by juniors John Jandrich and Abby Shepherd and the “leading ladies” are played by senior Avery Herbon and sophomore Kayla Fahey.
