With the pools closing for the season and cooler weather rolling in, there are new activities and events opening up for the fall season. Sequoit sports are starting up their seasons. Cardinal Crazies are getting dressed up to support our school’s teams. Football players are hitting the field on Friday nights. The volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, cross country, dance, cheer and field hockey teams are storming the fields, gyms, court and courses to give it their all.
Beyond Sequoit sporting events, however, there are various activities and events to attend in and around Lake County. Richardson’s farm is open and ready for those who would like to explore the world’s largest corn maze. They also have a 50-foot observation tower which has a 700-foot zip-line at the top, life size hamster balls for humans to run in, a pumpkin patch, fire pits and much more. The farm is open for business until Oct. 27. Check out their website for more information.
Starting in September, Harvest Time Orchards will have fresh ripe apples and other fruits for going out and picking. They also have homemade apple cider and donuts for sale.
The Antioch Fire Department will host their street dance on Sat. Sept. 14.
On Sun. Sept. 29, Antioch is hosting a family kite flying day. Bring your family and kite to Osmond Sports Park for a day of kite flying fun.
The Antioch Farmers market takes place on the corner of Depot St., Orchard St. and Main St. every Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. until Oct. 10.
Six Flags Great America will be open for Fright Fest again this year. After 6 p.m., Six Flags turns into “fright by night” as nearly 200 horrifying characters roam free in the park. The park will be introducing a new terror trail this year, Total Darkness, a blackout maze. Six Flags will have six haunted walk-throughs and four scare zones. This event takes place from Sept. 13 to Oct. 27 and will only be open on weekends.
