“Face Off” is a television series consisting of sixteen talented special effects makeup artists who compete with one another in hopes of becoming the next “Face Off” champion. In this television series, makeup artists are given a challenge and inspiration to form a film quality character based on the challenge. The contestants are only given a few days to complete work that often takes weeks. The artists are then judged on the quality and execution of their character and the panel of judges, Neville Page, Glenn Hetrick and Ve Neill, vote off a contestant each week until there is one champion.

“Face Off” may seem like a very competitive and aggressive show, but one of the best parts of the series is the artists’ kind and helpful natures. There have been many occasions throughout each season where an artist is running out of time or has ran into an issue and other contestants stop what they are doing to help and make sure a flustered artist creates a finished piece they are proud of. The purpose of “Face Off” is to encourage and inspire as well as learn from one another.

“Their encouragement creates a whole new aspect of makeup and art that goes into creating a character,” sophomore Emily Wright said.

“Face Off” has completed ten seasons filled with shocking challenges and unique twists, but the next season will be the ultimate showdown between past “Face Off” champions. Season 11 is bringing back contestants from previous seasons and facing them up against one another in an all-star showdown.

“You don’t want to miss this season,” season 11 contestant Cig Neutron on his Instagram page said. “Full of mad talent and wonderful personalities, it’s gonna be an amazing season.”

There are a lot of amazing and shocking things to come from this season as well as the creation of beautiful art, so don’t be late to season 11 premiere airing on January 24 at 9/8c, according to Syfy.
