Easy-to-make artwork to help you welcome autumn into your home!
November 11, 2014
The change in color of the leaves, the brisk air, the bonfires and delicious food are all things that remind us of the fall season, but most of all, the cozy house filled with heartwarming decor is what brings fall to mind. Nothing fills a home with love more than arts and crafts made by the whole family. Brighten up the place and get into the fall season with some very unique and easy crafts this season. Here are just a few ideas for decorating that require very little time and effort.
1. Painted Vases
Adding metallic accents to a variety of containers is nothing new, but these painted vases are becoming very popular. They look identical to vases at a craft store, except these are homemade. Pour a little bit of metallic craft paint in the vase, then tip the vases and cover as much of the bottom of the vases as desired. Any color paint can be used to match the decor around the house, but for the fall season this gold paint looks fantastic!
2. A Thankful Tree
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and remembering what it is to be thankful for should always be first on the list! This craft is great for the family to do together in preparation for Thanksgiving. A small tree branch, white paint, colored paper, and a vase is all that’s needed for this unique project. Kids will especially have a blast decorating their own thankful tree! What better way to remember what to be thankful for than hanging it up on the family’s very own tree?
3. Leaf Garland
Nothing represents fall better than the change in color of the leaves! This simple project is one that can brighten up a living room, doorway, or fireplace in minutes. Gathering fresh leaves is the only task necessary for this craft. Once leaves are gathered, use a needle with string to thread them together, with knots to secure them on the ends. Tack up the garland and this homemade decor will have everyone asking where it is from!
4. Acorn Treats
Have any left over plastic Easter eggs? Put them to great use and create a craft as well as a snack that everyone will love! Wrap the lower half of the plastic eggs in twine, leaving a steam on the end. Next, fill the eggs up with any snack desired. These would be great in goody bags, at place mats, or even in an “acorn egg hunt” on Thanksgiving!
5. Burlap Wreath
Burlap material is cheap, easy to handle, and just screams fall. This gorgeous fall wreath is nothing but a simple foam wreath wrapped in burlap to give it a warm autumn touch. For a softer accent, the burlap flowers are a fantastic idea! Attach the flowers with hot glue and hang up in any room for a cozy fall accent.
Get creative this season for the around-the-corner holidays. Take just a few minutes out of the day to welcome the fall season into the home with some of these simple, easy and heartwarming crafts!
