Detox Tea Worries Rise
Some people have dreamt of the day when drinking tea could make them lose weight. As this fantasy has become reality with “detox teas,” is there a harsh truth behind it?

Detox teas have been disguised as working miracles through paid celebrities that advertise the tea on Instagram. It is a smart tactic, considering that all of these models have extremely fit bodies that most people idolize. However there is a hidden truth behind this questionable liquid.
What the detox teas fail to express is that one of their key ingredients used to make the tea is Senna. Senna is a natural laxative, which could be where the weight loss factor comes into play.
“Detox teas essentially work as laxatives, falsely creating a sense of health and well-being through purging,” Luxembourg fitness blogger Jennifer said.
Detox teas also may tamper with a woman’s menstrual cycle. Stopping, delaying and even changing the menstrual cycle are all side effects of some the detox teas. This is due to the fact that the detox teas are causing women to lose weight at an abnormally fast rate, causing a disruption of normal female hormones, leading to a possible shut down of the reproductive system.
If interested in trying a detox tea, make sure to research thoroughly beforehand. Side effects such as diarrhea and extreme cramps are common among BooTea, SkinnyMe Tea and TeaMi-these.
“I tried a 14 day trial for BooTea due to the crazy obsession over it, but just after those 14 days, I never ordered it again as it made me have extreme diarrhea,” senior Carlie Gaylord said.
The next time you see Kylie Jenner, Danielle Jonas, Nicki Minaj or any other famous celebrity advertising these detox teas, think of the hidden effects of these drinks and their unreliable help to one’s body.
