D'Andrea Named Coach of the Year

The girls varsity tennis team this year had quite possibly one of the best seasons ACHS ever had. This season, the ladies killed it on the court and broke records. For the first time in school history, the team won sectionals and three of the four sectional teams qualified for state. Overall, the team brought home a ton of hardware this past season, but one of the best rewards the team received came after the season with head coach Jamie D’Andrea being named Region 2 Illinois High School Tennis Coaches Association’s Coach of the Year.

The team could not be more happy for their coach and her well deserved award.

“Coach D definitely deserves this award,” senior Anna Arden said. “I was so lucky to have had her as a coach these past four years, and I don’t think we as a team could have ever accomplished half of the things we did without her as our coach.”

Coach D’Andrea brought many great qualities to her team as head coach and ultimately brought out the best in each of her athletes.

“My biggest philosophy is instead of making a plan and then seeing where the players fit, you look at the players and then make a plan,” D’Andrea said. “It’s an honor to be named coach of the year… it feels pretty cool with the record-breaking season.”

What a way to top off this record breaking season. Congratulations to coach D’Andrea and all of her athletes who made this past season such a special one.
