On Saturday January 23, the varsity dance team travelled to Rolling Meadows High School to compete in the sectional competition. At the end of the day, the ladies boarded the bus with the amazing news that they would be heading to the state competition in less than a week. The ladies took 4th place in the 2A division at sectionals, following Deerfield (3), Vernon Hills (2), and Libertyville (1- Sectional Champs).

“Saturday’s performance was definitely one of our best performances,” said sophomore Danielle Bay. “I think we have a really powerful routine, but we are against all of the top schools, so we will do our best and just enjoy the honor of dancing at State.”

For the upperclassmen dancing Sequoits, this will be their second time at the state competition, where they made it to the second day two years ago. The ladies look to live up to this precedent and place in the top ten in their division this year.

“Our whole team is so excited to perform and we are confident in our dance,” said freshman Anli Butler. “As a freshman making State, it has been such a positive experience. We are working hard to overcome a few obstacles, but as a team we are willing to take on whatever challenges we are faced with.”

The dancers leave for state on Friday January 29 and perform at 6:01 pm.
