Chicagoland Attractions
Parks, museums, and beaches, oh my.
Every year, there are lots of people who live around Chicago that don’t know quite what it has to offer, or where to start.
Grant Park is a public park located in Chicago’s Loop Community area. It is one of the oldest and most visited parts of Chicago. Annually, this park hosts some of the biggest events in the city: the Chicago Marathon, Lollapalooza, and many other concerts. Grant Park also has many huge attractions like Millennium Park, Maggie Daley Park, Buckingham Fountain, Hutchinson Field, museums, marinas and harbors.
Lincoln Park is also among the distinct parks in Chicago. The Lincoln Park Zoo, the Lincoln Park Conservatory, the Chicago History Museum, the Theatre on the Lake, a rowing canal, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and North Avenue Beach are only some of what Lincoln Park has to offer. There are also lots of playing fields and statues. It’s a great place to have an outing with friends or family.
The Willis Tower is also a well-known attraction in the city of Chicago, namely for its Skydeck. The Skydeck is located on the 103rd floor of the Tower, extending four feet outside of the building in a box made up entirely of Plexiglas. It offers astounding views, spanning up to four states. It’s a really unique experience.
The Museum of Science and Industry is a location for annual field trips for schools, but it’s also a place you can go to have fun and learn something new. It has a mirror maze, a coal mine simulation, a real U-505 German Submarine, science storms, railroads, ships, a baby chick hatchery, and much, much more. It’s a super fun place and there’s definitely going to be something that everyone is interested in because there are so many exhibits.
North Avenue beach is a great recreational area for those looking to be active. There is lots of shoreline, volleyball courts, bike trails, and walking paths. There are frequent rollerbladers, bikers, and runners. It’s a great place to just relax and enjoy the outdoors.
