BREAKING: Hubbard Announces Move to Assistant Superintendency
After four years, Antioch’s principal will be transitioning to a new district-wide role.
The Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction position was left vacant at the conclusion of last school year when former assistant superintendent David Bain left the district for a new job in publishing and educational resources. Instead of rushing to fill the position, the district distributed Bain’s responsibilities to Bradford Hubbard, Antioch Community High School principal; Aryan Haren, ACHS assistant principal of curriculum and instruction; and Jori Bowen, Lakes Community High School assistant principal of curriculum and instruction for the 2016-17 school year.
In an email at 12:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, to students, staff and parents, Hubbard announced the assistant superintendency will officially be filled this upcoming 2017-18 school year—by him.
“It is with incredibly mixed emotions that I write to let you know that I have accepted an opportunity to serve as the next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction here in District 117,” he wrote. “At the end of the school year, I will be transitioning to the District Office for this new endeavor that begins on July 1st.”
Hubbard is looking forward to the new change, but the change brings up a number of feelings and sentiments regarding his time at ACHS and his future with the district.
“This has been a very difficult decision,” Hubbard wrote. “I love being your principal…more so than I will ever be able to adequately articulate. I love this community, I love this school, and I love all of you. With that said, I was presented with a professional opportunity to continue to serve ACHS, in addition to Lakes, and stay committed to our mission of ‘Igniting Passion and Discovery in Every Student.’ This is a challenge that I am proud to accept and honored to have been offered.”
The Tom Tom will follow the complete process regarding the new principal search as information is provided. The posting for the job is expected to be released publicly this Friday.
