In a recent announcement by Antioch Community High School administration, the class of 2016 made school history.
The current class of ACHS sophomores scored the highest scores in school history on the annual ACT PLAN test with an average score of 19.5, tying them with the current class of seniors. Administration couldn’t be more excited.
“This class is rockin’. They’re doing really, really, well,” said Aryan Haren, ACHS assistant principal of curriculum and instruction.
Since 8th grade, the class of 2016 grew 3.1 points, placing them above the expected improvement rate. Additionally, the sophomores are the first class in school history to meet or exceed all four college readiness standards.
According to ACT’s website, ACT’s “PLAN program helps 10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success and provides information needed to address school districts’ high-priority issues.” Every year, sophomore students take this exam to assess their college readiness. It is a continuation from the freshman EXPLORE test and a precursor to the ACT test.
