The class of 2014 ranked 10th out of 21 Lake County schools for scores on the reading portion of the Prairie State Achievement Exams. Antioch Community High School moved up from 13th last year. ACHS is ranked 11th overall in combined reading, science and math scores.
ACHS chose to focus on improving reading scores the past two years, ultimately seeing improvement when ACHS made annual yearly progress at the start of this school year. The hard work by students and staff lead to scores improving dramatically. The PSAE score reports, which were released to ACHS faculty today, recognized notable effort in all three categories: reading, science and math.
ACHS ranked 10th in Lake County for science, as well as reading, improving from past years when ACHS missed out on the top ten. Additionally, in math, ACHS’s class of 2014 ranked 11th, scoring higher than previous classes.
The report also noted the class of 2013 earned an average score of 20.8 on the ACT. The class of 2014, however, earned a score of 22.4, which is the highest in ACHS school history.
In the same report, Lakes Community High School ranked 7th overall in Lake County, ranking 7th in reading, 9th in math and 7th in science. LCHS’s class of 2013 received an average ACT score of 22.5. The class of 2014’s score also went up this year, earning the class a 23.
The PSAE data for Lake County shows that D117 now is recognized as having two of the top ten scoring schools in all of Lake County.
