Bowling Rolls Into State Competition
After strong performances at sectionals, select Sequoit bowlers will be continuing on to state.
This weekend, the girls bowling team will be heading to compete in the IHSA State competition. The athletes that will be competing include senior Kayla Tikovitsch, juniors Lynn Michalec, Maya Schon and Allison Kane, sophomore Alyssa Olson and freshmen Allyssa Tanner and Ashley Lubkeman. The team hopes to complete to the best of their ability and place as high as they can.
“We’re trying to make it to day two as a team, but it all depends on our games and competition,” Kane said.
Although the girls hope for a strong performance, they are also excited just to be given the opportunity to go to state.
“Going to state is amazing and going as a team is an awesome accomplishment,” Kane said.
With several teams coming from all over the state, the team thinks it will be exciting and a close competition.
“There is going to be very tough competition between the teams and their games and scores will be close,” Olson said.
Their season has been very eventful and full of accomplishments. Going to state means a final opportunity to show off no just each athlete’s individual capabilities but the capabilities of the whole team in the hopes of earning a place on the podium and recognition from other teams.
