Basketball Profile: Joseph Whittall
Spanning over eight years of experience, Joseph Whittall plans to continue his basketball career long after he leaves Antioch.
Besides making up puns that rhyme with his last name and wearing Cubs merchandise, sophomore basketball player, Joseph Whittall is currently making the best out of his basketball career. Whittall has been playing basketball for over eight years and has loved since the first day. For some people, including Whittall, basketball is his whole life.
“In third grade a whole bunch of my friends were always going up to the RecPlex to play, and we organized a team,” Whittall said. “My friend’s dad talked to my mom about it and that’s how I kinda got into it originally. Basically it kind of just blossomed from there.”
Due to his height, Whitthall finds that rebounding is something he is very successful at; making over 30 points so far this season, that definitely seems to be the case.
“I’ve known Joey since 7th grade, and he’s very nimble,” sophomore player and teammate Robert Christiansen said. “He always falls down a lot, but when he’s on his feet he’s good, definitely at rebounding too, because he’s so tall, and just scoring down low.”
Being known as the “dad” of the team, Whittall makes it his mission to always make sense of what the team needs to accomplish when it comes to game time.
