With the new baseball season on the doorstep, the Sequoit baseball team is prepared for the opening pitch of the 2024 season. The team has been utilizing open gyms on Wednesdays to prepare themselves for the rapidly approaching season. During these open gyms, the Sequoits have bonded together and learned how to work with one another. Open gyms have been a great learning opportunity for people trying out and those expressing slight interest in baseball.
Senior Jack Olsen has been very dedicated to baseball his whole life and is ready for his third year on varsity baseball. Olsen is looking forward to his senior season and believes the team can be very successful this year.
“I think we had a lot of talented young players last year who can definitely have a successful season this year,” Olsen said. “I think we have the potential to be as good if not better than last year. I believe our program is taking a turn in the right direction.”
Senior and starting pitcher, Dylan Feldkamp has been playing baseball since he could walk. He has shown great amounts of commitment to baseball, training for hours on end to improve his game. Feldkamp is looking forward to being a leader on the team and leading the team to victory this season.
“I am excited to play out my senior year with my teammates and my friends,” Feldkamp said. “I look forward to competing for the conference championship.”
The Sequoit baseball team is eager for their first matchup which will be held in early spring. This season will be an exhilarating and emotional season for many players, especially the seniors. The team is aiming for another successful season while utilizing their off-season training on the field.
“I’m looking forward to showing off my off-season development,” Olsen said. “I think I put in a lot of effort and I think it’s going to show.”
